God to Man and Man to God
by Meher Baba. Softcover, 287 pages. Edited by Charles Purdom. This version of Meher Baba’s Discourses was first published in 1955 as God to Man and Man to God. There are some differences in verbiage between this version and the 6th edition of 1967. Compare ‘The New Humanity’ on this page and here. Mani S. Irani had this to say: “There are those who believe that literally every word in the original Discourses is Baba’s and are reluctant to accept any revised version. But actually, though Baba dictated for hours on the board, and Professor Deshmukh* had undoubtedly done brilliant work in many places, we feel there are many places where simplification of sentence structure or correction of grammar would enhance the beauty and simplicity which are the essence of Baba’s teachings.”* - Professor Deshmukh wrote the original transcriptions taken from Baba’s alphabet board by dictation.
