*Pictures in this listing represent the EXACT animal you will receive.* Prairie kingsnakes (Lampropeltis calligaster) are a medium-sized colubrid ranging throughout the midwestern and southern United States. Adults rarely exceed 40”, with 30”-40” being typical. They can be highly variable throughout their range and are sometimes mistaken for Pantherophis species. Prairie kingsnakes are shy and secretive, spending much of their time buried or under debris and structure. During the warmer months they are nocturnal hunters, feeding on other reptiles and rodents. Prairie kingsnakes are available fairly regularly as captive bred, including albinos, from generic hobby stock, although locale specific animals are less common.
