Invest in a Health Worker

Description Community health workers are trained to provide health information and promote good health practices in their communities. This can include teaching families how to avoid preventable illnesses, performing basic health checks and dispensing medicines. How your gift helps TEAR is supporting Medair to provide life-saving nutrition and health services to vulnerable people in Somalia, including those displaced by conflict. Medair’s approach is two-fold: strengthening local health care providers so that they can provide better care and treatment, while at the same time creating a strong system of community-based health care and health promotion through volunteer community health workers. With these two approaches working together, Medair hopes to see a reduction in death and illness amongst some of the most vulnerable communities in Somalia. Medair’s work has a particular focus on mothers and children as they seek to address the alarmingly high rates of maternal and child mortali
