GERMAN STUDIO POTTERY GORILLA SCULPTURE

A studio pottery sculpture of a primate with arms crossed in thoughtful repose, by an as-yet-unknown West German artist. The clay is a very dark espresso brown chamotte with a chocolate brown glaze, and the eyes are formed either with embedded glass—or by twin dots of a very glossy black glaze that catches the light and produces a twinkle.
