During the 1970s, the glass art he created was more standard in shape than what we come to see later. In addition to his more typical Cylinders series, he also created many standard-looking, symmetrical vessels like this clear glass vase with yellow threads. Although the 70s primarily feature more standard shapes, they were a great time for Chihuly in terms of innovation in technique and color application. Through glass shard drawings, colored threads, and stripe-like applications, Chihuly's pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible in the world of glass art.
