Artek Aalto Marimekko Side Table 90D

In celebration of their 90th anniversary, Artek has joined forces with Finnish design house Marimekko for products such as this Aalto Marimekko Side Table 90D. The collaboration merges Marimekko’s art of printmaking with Artek’s wood-bending technology. For the Side Table 90D, originally designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935, a Marimekko pattern has been applied to the birch veneer surface of the table using marquetry. This wood-working technique turns the pattern’s shapes into contrasting wood grains, resulting in a striking shimmering effect that changes with the lighting in your space.
