Salvia sclarea - USA Clary Sage varies greatly in its fragrance depending on where it’s grown. There are some truly sweet varieties from Eastern Europe and from the USA. French grown Clary Sage tends to be a bit drier and can be almost abrasive at first; followed up by a rich, warm and hearty embrace. Generally, the fragrance profile of Clary Sage contains elements of fresh-damp and sweet earth, tobacco, warm musk with a dash of camphoraceous. High Sclareol variety of Clary Sage produced through hydrodiffusion has a fresh and delicate top-note which progresses into a rich sweet-herbaceous body-note with a long lasting aroma.
