Maddox “Mad Dog” Potter was a beautiful son, committed big brother, diligent student, and accomplished junior golfer from Charleston, West Virginia. He began his golf career at The First Tee of West Virginia when he was only 4 years old. By age 5, he had become a fixture in local U.S. Kids Golf tournaments. As Maddox grew older, his exposure to golf continued through the Callaway Tour, the Under Armour Tour, middle school and high school golf. In December of 2023, when Maddox was 15 years old, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. He endured a year of chemotherapy treatments at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, back surgery, multiple rounds of traditional radiation, as well as full brain and spine proton therapy. Despite this valiant effort, Maddox's cancer continued to grow and by December of 2024, it was apparent that no other treatment would stop this disease.
