Young Mycologist Classroom Activity Kit

The Young Mycologist Classroom Activity Kit is a fun and hands-on activity for students young and old to grow their own cluster of mushrooms in this simple and rewarding experiment.  The kit comes with a growing media for the mushrooms, a live Oyster mushroom culture, and enough cups, domes and “filters” for each student to grow their own mushroom cluster. The experiment will take a couple of hours to set up, and about a month to observe and journal. We have prepared a teacher's manual which contains a mushroom growing experiment and additional, more advanced experiments for each age group, kindergarten through high school, including a printable experiment journal for the main experiment.  In addition to being used as a growing experiment, this versatile module can be used by instructors as well as students, as a science project for mycoremediation, mushroom enzyme collection, spore collection, botanical illustration, and many other applications fueled by your curiosity and imagination
