Rare first edition published in 1917 by Little, Brown and Company. Pictorial front cover. Missing frontispiece and one illustration. Heavy rubbing, wear and stains to covers. Shelf-cocked. Ex-library. Front hinge is broken and book block is separating from covers. Toning and foxing throughout. Tells the story of an Eskimo boy who is carried out to sea on an ice floe. Snell (1878-1959) was knowledgeable on the topic having spent time in Alaska with an Eskimo tribe in the early 1900s as a Congregationalist missionary. He would eventually author 76 mysteries for boys.
