Cranial anatomy of the Archaeolemurinae (Lemuroidea, Primates)

Pp. 110; 38 text-figures (black-and-white photos, line-drawings, and maps).  Original blue printed wrappers, lettered in black, sm 4to.  Anthropological Papers of the American Museum of Natural History, volume 52, part 1.  The Archaeolemurinae is made up of Archaeolumur majori, A. edwardsi, and Hadropithecus stenognathus.  These three species of Malagasy fossil lemurs converge on the body plan of large terrestrial Old-World monkeys.  Archaeolumur appears to have been a browser similar to the common baboon, Papio while Hadropithecus represents a highly specialized grazer reminiscent of the gelada baboon, Theropithecus.  Small name stamp of former owner on the front wrapper, no other ownership marks and no signs of use.
