This is a Copper Shakyamuni Buddha Statue which is partly gold plated around the face and the monastic robe along with some petals in the double lotus asana. The carvings of various floral motifs in the robe of the Buddha is very finely detailed and carved out in the most intricate fashion. The gold plated face and the carving in the robe are the main highlights of this statue. Shakyamuni Buddha Statue is seated in Dhyana Asana or Meditative Pose, also called Padmasana. In this position, the legs are crossed, closely locked with the soles of both feet visible. Lord Buddha is wearing a detailed carved monastic robe incised with floral motifs. He is seated on a single lotus base also known as Padmasana. His left hand is in the earth touching gesture or bhumisparsha mudra, while his right hand holds a medicine bowl. This statue has been made by a forth generation artist who has learnt statue making from his grandfather and then father. He is a master craftsman and works hard to achieve
