 If you have used a smaller net with a rubber net bag,  you may have had the problem of a fish bouncing out of the net.  I wanted a landing net that was a good size to carry but reduced the trampoline effect that I find when using a rubber net bag.  I have found that a more elongated hoop results in better function, with less bounce.  The net in about 29 inches long with a 12 inch handle and a 16 x 9 inch hoop.  The frame is a combination of cherry and walnut with a handle of walnut. The net bag is attached to the hoop using the Tenkara method.  I use a continuous cord to lash the net bag on to the frame without drilling the typical holes into the frame. Eliminating the holes, increases the strength of the hoop and decreases water infiltration. The net is finished with multiple coats of epoxy. All nets are signed and numbered.
