The Basilica of Saint Sabina, known locally as Basilica di Santa Sabina, is a historic church on the Aventine Hill in Rome, Italy. It is a titular minor basilica and mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Preachers, better known as the Dominican Order of Preachers, a preaching order established in Touluse, France with the goal of spreading Gospel and opposing heresy. Saint Sabina was a Roman martyr who was accused in pre-Christian Rome of being Christian. It is said that her slave, Saint Serapia, was first denounced and beheaded. Sabina stole Serapia's remains and buried them in her own family's mausoleum as a fellow Christian. However, Sabina was eventually ousted as a Christian as well, and was thus martyred. The Catholic Church later recognized both Sabina and Serapia and canonized them into Sainthood. 48 megapixel 4k drone shot. Specially edited for FineArt
