Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders

This course is designed to introduce teachers to the diagnosis of autism and to provide practical strategies for teaching students with autism. Topics of focus will include the DSM-V diagnosis of autism, the possible causes and treatments for autism, the academic strengths and weaknesses of students with autism, and strategies for teaching students with autism in the general education setting.  Required Text:  The ABCs of Autism in the Classroom by Wendela Whitcomb Marsh Location: Online Framingham State University - 3 graduate credits
