Grog is a usually a hard ceramic material, a fired clay that's been ground to a specific mesh size (but non-clay refractory materials are also used). The grog in this listing has a fine particle size, probably in the 200 to 300 mesh size range. That small particle size makes it not help much with some of the usual reasons to add a grog to clay, such as 'opening' it up, or for texture. It would decrease shrinkage in the finished ceramic and would give it some some stiffness when throwing. This can be used to reduce crazing when added to a glaze....(see more)
