Bouteloua curtipendula - Side-oats Grama

Side-oats Grama is named for the way the flowers' seeds hang on one side of the culm or stem. A short grass by prairie standards, it generally reaches heights of 1 to 3 feet. Preference is for dry soils, but can handle some seasonal moisture. A great species to plant with Little Bluestem. Provides good habitat for game birds and other animals, often used by grazers. How To Plant Side-oats Grama Seeds: Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November).
