Dendrobium devonianum – Found in the Chinese Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, southern China and Vietnam in thick montane forests on tree trunks as a medium sized, COOL to WARM growing epiphyte at elevations of 500 to 2000 meters with pendulous, cylindric, slender, slightly fleshy, subbranched, many noded stems carrying narrowly ovate-lanceolate, leathery, clasping sheath base, long acuminate leaves where it blooms in the late winter and spring with an erect to spreading, 12 to 13" (30 to 32.5 cm) long, many (3 to 12) flowered inflorescence with long-lived, fleshy, fragrant flowers arising from the nodes near the apex of leafless, to 3' (1m) long, canes.  Beautiful large white flowers, veined and tipped violet, fringed lip, orange eyes. Prefers moderate to bright light.  Rest period:  The blooms of the Dendrobium devonianum are stimulated by the rest period and by strong light; they happen in spring.
