This special edition features the city’s landmarks as chess pieces: the Statue of Liberty as the Queen Eustace Tilley as the King pigeons as Knights yellow cabs as Pawns Brooklyn Bridge arches as Rooks the Chrysler Building as Bishops Each piece represents a part of New York’s vibrant character, creating a playful tribute to the city that never sleeps. The Chess Set is Illustrated by Christoph Niemann, a recurring contributor to The New Yorker.
