~1937 Emerald Wahl-Eversharp Doric
There is only one Wahl-Eversharp Doric. There have been many valiant attempts to mimic, duplicate, tribute or copy this pen. In my opinion the OMAS Paragon is the best. But, it isn't a Doric. I don't believe any of the homage pens has matched the brilliant colors and patterns of the Doric celluloids. Another amazing thing about Dorics is their nibs. Wahl-Eversharp continued making and offering flexible nibs long after the other big pen companies made them available only by special order. Collectors seek the adjustable Doric nibs. I believe vintage pen users are better served with the non-adjustable flex nibs. Less finicky, fiddly and far less apt to break and leave you weeping. W-E flexible nibs are brilliant. This one is a wet, extra-fine that provides ample flex yet is firm enough to be usable as an everyday note taker. The barrel is transparent. The vacuum filler is fully restored. There are a few spots of minor plating loss on the end of the clip and here and there on the cap band.
