This is an early WASP Clipper. I'm guessing it's from 1936 or 1937 and probably predates the circuit board Clippers that began around 1938. It has a grooved clip from the late VACUUM-FIL pens. Sheaffer changed the name of their VACUUM-FIl subsidiary to WASP in 1936. Except for the clip and the gold trim it looks very much like a semi-streamlined Sheaffer Junior from 1936. It is also a bit longer than the Junior in my collection. The pen is in pristine condition. There was no dried ink in the barrel and only a hint in the feed. The barrel has perfect clarity and color. The celluloid is flawless - not a mark on it. The clip has a few hints of thinned plating but no actual plating loss. The nib is the customary bouncy, wet and luscious WASP. It is NOT flexible or even semi-flexible. Yet it is soft enough to offer pleasing line variation with normal writing pressure. Please NEVER push a WASP or VACUUM-FIL nib as if it were flexible. I have many such nibs that were pushed too far and are now
