Omega launched the first Speedmaster model CK2915 in 1957; but it was not until Ref 105.012 was introduced in 1964 that the "Professional" designation appeared on the dial. Omega upgraded its previous Ref 105.003 with a larger 42mm case, twisted lugs, and guards to protect the winding crown and the chronograph pushers from impact. The reference kept the legendary manual wound Ref 321 developed by Albert Piguet of Lemania as its engine. This is a pre-Moon landing specimen of the Speedmasters worn by the early astronauts, including Apollo 11's Neil Armstrong when he became the first human to set foot on the Moon on July 20, 1969. The Rare “CB Case” Omega used two different casemakers for the 105.012. Most Speedmasters feature cases made by Huguenin Frères, but another company named La Cetrale Boîtes of Bien “CB” made a number of cases for only this Omega Speedmaster reference.
