
Vacheron Constantin Extremely Rare Stainless Steel and Rose Gold Chronograph with Champagne Dial circa 1945
This is a stunning Ref 4072 in astonishing condition from 1945. Vacheron Constatin (VC) chronographs of the 1940-1950s period are considered among the most beautiful and high quality watches ever produced by the Swiss industry. Moreover, the two-cases are extremely rare especially when you consider the exceptional condition of this example and the two-tone champagne dial on the watch. Our photos don’t do justice to this piece. In production from 1938 until the late 1960s the reference 4072 still exudes a highly contemporary elegance. Vacheron Constantin produced the watch with both the rare oval-shaped chronograph pushers, or as found on the present watch, with more modern, rectangular-shaped pushers. Furthermore, the 34mm case featured either a rare flat bezel such as our model or a beveled one. Less than 70 of the model were produced in a combination of steel and precious metals.
