Sourced from Madagascar The majority of petrified wood on Earth is believed to be anywhere from 65 to 570 million years old. These specimen are somewhere in that range. Each petrified wood segment is completely unique, showcasing breathtaking earthy hues, rich wood-like patterns, and shimmering mineral crystallization. No two pieces are ever alike! Petrified wood is basically ancient wood that turned into stone over time. It happens when trees get buried under layers of sediment and are kept from rotting because there's no oxygen or bugs around. Then, over millions of years, mineral-rich water flows through the sediment and slowly replaces the wood with minerals like silica or calcite. The cool part is that it keeps the wood’s original shape and details, like the rings and texture—just now it's rock instead of wood. Ethical sourcing is our number one priority. All of our taxidermy, skulls, bones, sea life and other natural science specimens have met our rigorous standards. See our "abo
