Born in Canada, Czashka studied art at Syracuse University and went on to obtain her Masters of Fine Arts from The Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI. During her time there, she taught at Purdue University and received a National Endowment for the Arts Apprenticeship for papermaking at Twinrocker Handmade Paper Mill in Brookston, IN. After Cranbrook, Czashka was granted a post-graduate fellowship researching traditional, western-style hand papermaking in seven European countries.
