Azurite Malachite Matrix Milpillas Layer Cake High Quality Pseudomorph Blue Green Small Cluster Rocks and Minerals Mineral Specimen Mexico
This is a fabulous small “layer cake” specimen of high-quality Azurite and Malachite, and it comes from the famous Milpillas Mine, Mexico. This beautiful and sculptural little cluster is composed of rich blue and green colors, sandwiched between graphic tan matrix layers. The blue azurite and the green malachite radiate a striking combination of ultramarine and deep green shades, with tiny hints of turquoise-colored chrysocolla! The azurite crystals zigzag across the cluster, protruding from one single layer—I think of it as a sculptural “layer cake” of bands of contrasting minerals and colors. One of my favorite aspects is seeing the roots of the deep blue crystals beginning to alter into the green of the malachite; this is known as a pseudomorph (when one mineral replaces another but retains the habit of the original mineral.) This amazing and totally unique small collector specimen will be a winning addition to your specimen or healing collection! Locality: Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca
