Dioptase & Mimetite Cluster, N’tola, Mindouli, Congo—A-E6
This is a stunning cluster of beautiful green dioptase and yellow mimetite crystals on matrix! Pictures do not do it justice--the color of the Dioptase crystals is a rich, emerald green, and it is uniquely difficult to capture the quality of the color on camera. This cluster is lovely and difficult to capture in pictures—the crystals vary in size, with layers of lemon yellow mimetite and tan matrix rock beneath them. The Dioptase crystals are prismatic with a somewhat matte surface texture, and muted luster; they have grown atop and around matrix rock; the overall shape is a raw layered cluster with bright color and subtle shine. (Dioptase rarely forms crystals over about an inch long, so these are characteristic specimens of the mineral.) This is a desirable example of this mineral, and will make a unique and exotic addition to any specimen collection! Locality: N’tola Mine, Mindouli District, Pool Department, Congo.
