"Dr. Florentino H. Hornedo was a cultural historian; retired professor of Philippine Literature at the School of Humanities, Ateneo de Manila University; professorial lecturer in History, Modern Philosophy and Literature at the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School; Commissioner of the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines; and member of the Board of the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA). He has lectured widely nationally and internationally having been visiting professor to 34 universities in Asia and the USA, and exchange professor at the Department of Oriental Studies, Peking University, Beijing, China, 1993-94, and 1997. He has worked extensively in the UNESCO’s consciousness-raising regarding the world’s intangible heritage. He has authored several books in the fields of Philippine culture and cultural heritage, history, education, and philosophy. He has won top prizes in the Palanca Awards for literature, and received the National Catholic Authors Award in 1998, P
