View of the Savannah River from Fort James Jackson’s wharf. The small buoy seen just below the far shore tree line, just right of image center, marks the spot where the crew of the Confederate ironclad C.S.S. Georgia scuttled her rather than allow Union troops to take the ship. Portions of the Georgia and thousands of artifacts and cannon were raised in the summer of 2015.
