The story begins with a bank robbery by a mysterious figure. Then we are introduced to Mr. Fogg, honest-looking, well-turned out and with good teeth. He is accompanied by his newly-acquired valet, Mr. Passepartout. Hot in their pursuit is the detective Fix of Scotland Yard, who thinks that Fogg is the man who robbed the bank.
