A striking Art Deco era pendant, modeled in platinum, whose slender crescent moon cradles an apple-green jadeite jade disk. Our upturned crescent is set with 19 diamonds (four small rose cuts, and a graduating series of old mine cuts)— these are held in a pie crust channel, where they are supported by tiny bead-like prongs. The jade disc is hand-carved with an undulating floral pattern, and pierced. Crowning the jade disc, a cruciform arrangement of five old European cut diamonds are held in milgrained bezels. This pendant hangs from a later, diamond-set bail. We love the flower moon idea this pendant conveys, along with the bright and dark elements at work here— the bright green jade stands out against the slim crescent, whose diamonds sparkle moodily in their darkened cannel! This pendant is unusual, because its jade centerpiece is removable. An ingenious screw mechanism, on the pendant's reverse, releases the jade disc, so the pendant can be worn as an airy, open, diamond crescent!
