Art Deco Era OMC Diamond Engagement Ring with Orchids in 18k Gold
An Art Deco era engagement ring, modeled in 18k white gold, by the well-known jewelry house Belais. This ring is styled with a unique, paneled, East/West, lozenge-shaped head— the ring head features charming, floral, openwork decor, and the flowers depicted here are orchids! Because orchids are associated with fertility and sexuality, they were once considered a somewhat naughty floral gesture— it is uncommon to see them gracing the shoulders of rings from this period. These orchids frame the ring's square, four tab-setting, and its soulful, .30 carat, old mine cut diamond. Old mine cut diamonds are beloved by collectors for their charming, off-round shape, slightly-irregular, hand-cut facets, small tables, and a large, open culets. This ring is also blessed with a carefully-pierced, cutwork gallery, whose decor is a line-up of tiny clovers and diamonds. The ring's shank is decorated with carving at the shoulders, and it tapers toward the base. This is a wonderful, unusual engagement
