Victorian Snake Breaking Through Earrings
A charming pair of antique drop earrings, modeled in 14k gold, that feature a motif of snakes breaking out of their eggs. These sweet, mysterious babes weave in and out of the "cracked," oval, egg-like forms, to rest their diamond-patterned heads atop their curvy tails. These earrings are beautifully carved! They are deeply patinaed in the recesses, and finished with a high-color bloom. Earwires are shepherd's hooks with a c-shaped catch. These old darlings are strange and wonderful— we love them as symbols of rebirth and transformation! Materials 14k Age c. 1900 Dimensions Total drop measures approx 25.5 mm; plaques measure approx 19.3 x 13.7 mm. Notes These drops were originally a pair of Victorian era cufflinks. They have been thoughtfully redesigned in a manner appropriate to the period.
