"The light of a nation, we are proud as the sun" Haku Collective is celebrating the empowering voices of Hawaiian, BIPOC & AAPI women in our new series, Nā Leo Wahine. Each silhouette portrait in the series features a female musical artist from Hawaiʻi and her impactful lyrics. Amplifying their voice is Aloha de Mele, a rising female artist, who was commissioned to illustrate this special series. Our first print released on International Women’s Day, features Kimié Miner, Grammy-Nominated Producer, Singer-Songwriter, and Recording Artist. The portrait features her handwritten lyrics from her award winning song, “Proud as the Sun.” Proud as the Sun is much more than a song for Miner. It’s a cherished memento created during a time of transformation, while she was pregnant with her first child.
