Except maybe the Italian film industry. Those two worlds collided in 1979, when Mr. Corman bought the US rights to a bizarro sci-fi film from director Luigi Cozzi (CONTAMINATION, PAGANINI HORROR) which very much resembled another galaxy far, far away (although it turns out that the script was in development even before STAR WARS.) The film, STARCRASH, has been called the ultimate STAR WARS rip-off, but it really deserves a little more credit than that, and that's why we've decided to screen it this May 4th day for all of you San Diego Jedis.
