**What does System Tampered mean?**The System Tampered error is a devices "Self-Destruct" Mode, intended to protect the reader and merchant from fraudulent activity. Some accidents or actions can cause the reader to believe someone is trying to "tamper" with the system, for instance by installing a "skimmer" to the device to steal your customers credit card information. These instances can include:**A hard drop, or dropping a heavy object onto the reader**: This tricks the reader into believing someone may be trying to crack the case open.**Metal Credit Cards**: Typically fancier amex cards, but occasionally others as well. These cards can hold a small static charge, which is released to the chip contact when the card is inserted into the reader. They are not only dangerous for our readers, but for all chip contacts. My best recommendation is to train staff to request alternate pay type, or tap only for metal cards.**Overly-Thick Credit Cards**: This is another one normally seen by Ame
