This is a true one-of-a-kind rare combination of rifle and scope; a pre-war Super Grade .22 Hornet rifle rechambered to the K-Hornet, with a very low serial number Unertl scope. The rifle grades in NRA very good condition. The Unertl scope is serialized with the number 802 - by far the lowest number we have seen come through the shop. The .22 K-Hornet cartridge was developed by Lysle Kilbourn in 1940 and was one of the first "improved" cartridges; with straight body and sharp neck it was a substantial improvement over the standard .22 Hornet cartridge. The stock is a low-comb Super Grade style, with the wrap checkering and unique grip cap, forearm tip, cheek piece, and swivel bases. It has a few shallow wear marks but has obviously been well cared for. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. It retains the original steel butt plate which shows bluing loss, wear, and freckling. The original checkering is still crisp and in very good condition. The factory bluing is 90% with light
