The Mating Call is a classic Rex Beach novel in which a soldier returns home from WW1 and finds himself fighting against the local Klan over a perceived affair with the woman he married while on leave (and who later had their marriage annulled). Made into a movie produced by Howard Hughes in 1928, starring Thomas Meighan, Evelyn Brent, and Renee Adoree. This hardcover first edition from 1927 is in fair condition. Heavy cover wear, binding showing and spine looseness. Some page staining.
