Figural Neo-Classical English Brass Doorknocker

Antique, Figural, Neo-Classical Heavy Brass Doorknocker from England. This door accent was found at a flea market in Europe in its current condition. It measures 7 1/2" high, 5 1/2" wide and 2" deep and weighs a hefty 2 lbs 7.5 oz. This nod to the goddess Athena is cast in 2 pieces with the front "sash" hinged into the head at the sides. This sash acts a the lever for the knock. The goddess is depicted with traditional ancient Greek attire and is posed and sculpted in the style of ancient Greek statues. The finish on the brass shows a lovely patina with wear and shine on the hand grip and the raised areas of the face. The back has 2 integrated holes to allow for screw-mounting to a door. In very good vintage condition, with patina and wear commensurate with age. An interesting accent piece to enliven the curb appeal of any entry. Free shipping.
