The Best Part of Waking Up

Inspired by the need to look out at something other than the beige stucco wall that was viewable from my apartment's windows during the 2020 lockdown, this moody morning scene is a quiet homage to my mother and how she would store her art tools in mugs and empty folders cans. This painting is both cozy and melancholic which, upon reflection, is often how I think about my childhood home.
