A dwarf Beardtongue with lavender trumpet-shaped flowers clustering on hairy stems from late May through June. The blooms attract butterflies, bumblebees, and hummingbirds. This naturally-occurring variety of the North American native Penstemon hirsutus grows only 6-12" tall, perfect for garden edges, small garden beds, or containers. Penstemon hirsutus var. pygmaeus Beardtongue prefers full to part sun, and medium, well-drained soil. This plant is adaptable and durable, including resistance to deer.
