A special collaboration with Los Angeles–based design studio Commune, Abstrakt is part of a new series of interior objects rooted in personal expression and collective memory. The design originates from a suite of small-scale paintings by Steven Johanknecht, created at home during the quiet stillness of the pandemic lockdown. These intimate works were repeated, repositioned, and reimagined as textile compositions a process that transforms solitary gestures into shared pattern.Referencing the structure and symmetry of traditional Scandinavian motifs, Abstrakt blends the hand of the artist with the order of craft. The result is a modern expression that bridges past and present contemporary yet familiar, intuitive yet intentional.
