F0040 - Argentium Rhodonite Wire Wrap Pendant, 15.75g

Marla used Argentium Silver to Wire Wrap this gorgeous Rhodonite Pendant. Argentium is 93.5% silver so technically qualifies as Sterling, but is more tarnish resistant than Sterling Silver. This is rare Crafton Hills Rhodonite. The mine in Crafton Hills near Mentone, California was sealed by the government to prevent accidents. A member of Yucaipa Valley Gem and Mineral Society told us that the city of Redlands filled the mine with expanding foam because inside there was a deep vertical shaft that people fell into. The material is no longer available for collection, so whatever is in collector's possession is all there will ever be from this location. Very few people know where the mine was located anymore. Fortunately, Marla's mother had a pretty good cache of material which consists of black and pink stone. We have about a dozen or so slabs and a few rocks that haven't yet been cut.
