Steven Wilson — An Atmos Overview

The Overview is the 8th solo release from British musician, songwriter, producer and audio engineer Steven Wilson. The album is a return to Steven’s love of progressive rock—although still interspersed with his usual eclectic blend of modern electronic, ambient and pop sensibilities. The Overview is also a nod to classic longform albums with just a pair of side-long tracks spanning the record’s 41:44 minute runtime. Like most of Steven’s releases over the past five years both his own solo albums, his long running band Porcupine Tree and his mixes and remixes of albums by King Crimson, Tears For Fears, ABC, Van Morrison and Yes, The Overview is available in stereo, 5.1 surround and Atmos, all done in Steven’s personal, U.K.- based mix room. Note that this is our third interview with Steven over the past four years (April 2021 and December 2023), and once again, we will be digging deep into his continued embrace of immersive audio.
