This is a top-ward compressed Knightia with a preserved flying insect!! It's preservation was interrupted by some heavy layers, but makes this fish plate very unique! The lower tail fin has broken off, but is very well preserved. The head's compression almost gives this fun fish a "duck-like" bill! What an amazing fish plate to have on display! Knightia is an extinct species of fish that are well known from their preservation in the Green River Formation, NW USA. Fish from the Green River Formation are some of the most finely preserved fish in the entire world. Most of our fish were field collected and prepared in our lab so we absolutely guarantee the quality and authenticity of our specimens!
