  Calcium deficiency is a major dietary problem in captive reptiles and amphibians. Maintaining a proper calcium:phosphorous (Ca:P) ratio of 1.5:1 in the diet is believed to be just as important nutritionally as an adequate calcium intake. So the problem in most cases is actually an improper Ca:P ratio, not too little calcium.   Rep-Cal Calcium Without Vitamin D3 contains only 100% natural phosphorous-free calcium carbonate derived from oyster shells for its calcium source. Because this supplement does not contain vitamin D3, it is suitable for use with reptiles and amphibians that have appropriate UVB lighting in their enclosure.
