He received his Masters of Fine Art from the Nova Scotia college of Art and Design in 1981. His inclusion in the Museum of Modern Arts - “An International Survey of Recent Paintings and Sculpture” - in 1984 marked the beginning of many exhibitions in North America and Europe. His works are in many prestigious museum collections around the world including the Whitney Museum, Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Museum Boysmans van Beuringen in Rotterdam. He has lived in New York, Cambridge and Amsterdam. This piece, “The Bear”, created in 1985, is oil on steel and plaster.
