While the material is well-known among collectors and dealers, there are only about three places in the world where good crystals are found: Brazil, San Diego County and Afghanistan. Most of the crystals you'll see on the market these days come from Afghanistan, and they are truly impressive for their size, quality, color, gemminess and crystal form. This piece is a gorgeous, excellent, doubly-terminated, excellent, large, sharp, thick, gemmy, striated, rich pink and soft golden colored, "sword-shaped" "floater" crystal. When the crystal is viewed down the "c" axis, like nearly all Spodumene crystals, the color is stronger.
