Quartz with Calcite from Uruguay

The initial stage is a pale Lavender Amethyst forming a typical cathedral vug. Inside the vug, the next stages consisted of a dominate long slender tapered Calcite crystal that was then coated with a red-brown iron-oxide followed by a micro crystalline Quartz druze that gives it a sugary sparkle.  Following that stage was an additional mostly clear Quartz phase and then the final white calcite crystals formed on the top of the Quartz. A very complex history that results in a unique natural museum quality specimen.
