Polished Carved Pyrite Skull Figurine
Pyrite Skull The name Pyrite came from the Greek word "Pyr", meaning fire. This name was given because Pyrite can be used to create sparks needed for starting a fire if it is struck against metal or another hard surface or material. Pieces of Pyrite have also been used as spark producing material in flintlock firearms. Pyrite has been commonly nick named as "Fools Gold". Pyrite's gold color, metallic sheen, and high specific gravity has often caused it to get mistaken as gold. However, Pyrite is commonly associated with gold. The two minerals have often formed together, and in some deposits, Pyrite can contain enough included gold to warrant mining. Approximate measurements: 2 inches tall, 2.5 inches in length, & 1.5 inches in width. Cleaning Instructions: You can gently clean this with a damp cloth, then pat dry.
